The Ronchi

The legendary Ronchi, subtle wines full of energy, have overcome the test of time without ever losing their appeal. Wines out of fashion trends, timeless, brave, depicted by beautiful labels signed by the painter Tano Dal Monte. In Romagna, nothing will ever be the same again.

Ronco del Re

Ronco del Re is the flagship wine of Ronchi di Castelluccio, made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes from vineyards about 50 years old. The vineyard stretches along a thin strip of land, located between the road and a deep cliff that separates it from the river (‘re’ in the local dialect) and overlooks the Lamone Valley towards the Pieve del Tho, a building from the 1800s built on the remains of Roman baths. In this area, the vineyard captures the heat of the sun during the day and that of the earth at night. Every year the bottles of Ronco del Re are filled with a wine of a soft golden colour, expressing the exceptional combination of natural virtues, tradition and science at the service of an art.

Ronco Casone

Ronco Casone is a cru produced from Sangiovese grapes. The vineyard, located along the cypress-lined avenue leading to Modigliana, takes its name from the nickname of a family that managed the land as sharecroppers for generations. The North-West position of the vineyard historically favoured hot vintages, such as the memorable 1979. Recently, global warming has improved conditions for the vineyard, which is now known for its finesse, minerality and extraordinary longevity.

Ronco della Simia

Ronco della Simia is a Sangiovese known for its meatiness and thick skin that gives the wine unique characteristics, combining natural finesse and elegance with an unusual power that requires long bottle ageing to balance. Ronco dei Ciliegi

Ronco dei Ciliegi is Sangiovese cru that takes its name from two splendid cherry trees which, after the cheerful spring vivacity of their flowers, have always been filled with beautiful deep red fruits. Much of the historic vineyard has been “restored”, no plants have been cut down, the old forms of farming have been restored and the failures replanted using the old ecotypes, found from the notes of Remigio Bordini and given to his son Francesco who carries on his father’s work. The label has been redesigned following the spirit of the first vintages, with the decentralization on the right that has become the stylistic signature of the winery and the Italic font typical of the origins. The enhancement of the splendid stroke by the painter Tano dal Monte, in Renaissance red color, has been restored by retracing the historical indications of the company.

Il Poggiolo

Poggiolo is a Cabernet Sauvignon named after the mountain peak on which the Ronchi di Castelluccio winery is located. A wine that pays homage to the great crus of Bordeaux, iconic grape variety in France. The plot, facing North-West, looks towards the Alps and benefits from a cooler climate, ideal for enhancing the hints of wood, spices and herbs typical of the Apennines. Since 2020, vinification has been carried out exclusively with Cabernet Sauvignon vines, in line with the original philosophy of the company, which was founded in 1974.
